This year, 2026, marks the 40th anniversary of the lab’s closing — which provoked a few Ottawa-resident former Lab employees to mark the occasion with a small reunion. Peter Merriman conceived and organized the event — and chose the venue, The Marshes, on Terry Fox Drive.
There was no centralized list of contacts, hence tracking down attendees was a non-trivial exercise. To some extent, that issue has now been rectified, and a roster of ex-BNR Edmontonians and their contact details has been started.
A future follow-up get togeher is possible, but currently nothing firm has been arranged. About 14 former BNR Edmontonians made an appearance at the event, held on August 26, 2026.
